Day 3: The Republic of Georgia Tour with Living Roots

In this 14 part series, we present voice recordings and tidbits taken during our tour in The Republic of Georgia that was organized by Living Roots. You'll get to see and hear what we saw each day and how we felt about it. We did not edit the voice recordings or photos so you can really get a sense of how we were feeling and what we experienced on this trip. We hope you enjoy these experiences.

Day 3: Summary

On our third day of our tour of Georgia we took a detour into the Truso Valley Gorge based on the advice of Tamar, the felt artisan we met yesterday. Here we encountered the border guards near the Russian border and had to turn back. Incidentally the road wasn't scary, but we did drive through some water and up and down some bumps. Our day also included picking up two hitchhikers so that they could get out of the valley and where they were going. As we rocked out to Dr. Dre and Snoop, we headed out of the valley and to the Uplistsikhe cave city. It was super crowded since it was open museum day so everyone and their mom seemed to be here. Then we headed to a natural wine maker's house for wine tasting and some dinner (the wine maker's name is Archil Guniava). Not only were they an incredibly nice family, but we ate amazing food and sampled some "not quite ready" wine straight from the qvevri. Overnight in Kutaisi. Hear all about it below.

Highlights include: Detour to the amazing Truso Valley Gorge (near Russian border), cave city of Uplistsikhe , dinner at a natural wine maker's house, lots of driving on the way to Kutaisi

Note: So we swear a bit on this recording and it sounds as if we are sitting on a pleather bean bag chair. So some parts of the recording are a bit muffled and there's a general pleather squeak and rubbing sound underneath some parts. Sorry about that.

Day 3: Photo Roundup

This is the third of 14 posts covering every aspect of our tour of the Republic of Georgia with Living Roots. We really hope you enjoy them!
